The new Vado HD is very similar to the original Vado. They both share some common features, which include a 2-inch antiglare LCD screen that serves as both the playback screen and a viewfinder. Creative Labs has made some changes to the new model. The lens is not built-in to the body, but rather it extends out. It is slightly thicker and, at 3.5 ounces, it weighs a little more than the original at 3.3 ounces. The placement of the microphone has also been shifted; it now resides on the other side of the lens. It is a wide-angle glass lens that helps you capture wide scene videos, which are much sharper and crisper than the original. It sports a 2X digital zoom, which works well in low light conditions.
The good: Solid 720p video; ultraslim design; removable, rechargeable battery; easy to use; one-touch video uploading to YouTube and Photobucket; includes mini HDMI connector and bundled cable for outputting 1080i video to an HDTV.
The bad: No flash-memory slot; Mac users have to manually copy video files to their computers; white balance is slightly off and colors are a bit amped.
