Best way to connect and import Canon Vixia MTS to Mac OS X

I just bought a Canon Vixia HF S100. When my SD card was full I copied al the files to an external hard drive. Now I'm trying to edit and see everything with imovie, but the files are .MTS files and imovie can't read it. What can I do?. The software that the camara brings only works on PC not on mac.
iMovie (even the current one) can't work directly with the .mts file. When you recorded the video, the camera created a folder structure including the .mts files and other info, and iMovie needs the full folder to make sense of the .mts file. Mac Canon Vixia Video Converter is assuredly the easiest and quickest way for Canon camcorder owner to transcode HD M2TS or MTS video to Mac-compatible formats like MOV, MPEG4, etc. Meanwhile, it has various optimized presets for editing applications like Final Cut Express, FCP or iMovie; portable devices like iPad, iPhone 4, iPod Classic, iTouch, BlackBerry, Zune, Creative Zen, iRiver, etc.
Three steps on how to transfer or convert Canon Vixia video to Mac, iMovie or FCP, etc
Step 1: Download the Mac Canon Vixia video conversion program, then connect Canon Vixia camcorder to Mac. Click "Add File" to load .mts or .m2ts shootings into the application.
Step 2: Choose the output video format in the drop-up list of "Profile". If you intend to edit the recorded clips in iMovie, select iMovie video->iMovie MPEG-4 H.264 video format as the target format.

How do I upload video from Sony Cyber-Shot to iPhoto successfully

"All of my movies from iphoto aren't displayed in iMovie. Although there is one movie that shows up and it is from a friends flip camera. All of my other movies taken with my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H3 don't show up. Could it be a compatibility problem with the camera? When I manually import a movie file from the Sony Cyber-shot it works but it does say the file has the wrong frame rate and needs to be converted. Hopefully someone has a solution soon or Apple releases an iMovie update that solves this problem. This is an unacceptable problem."

Just bought a Sony HD Handycam HDR-CX160 and want to connect to Mac Lion

I just bought a Sony HD handycam (HDR-CX160) w/40 GB HDD. The camcorder records in AVCHD format. However; Leopard on my computer doesn't seem to recognize it. I have to use Sony's PMB for Windows to import .mts files in the handycam to .m2ts on my computer.m2ts files are too not supported my OS X or iMovie. Someone told me that the best way to get around this issue is to convert it into MPEG-2 stream and export it to a Mac, and it works fine. But, I am confused with this. I know AVCHD uses Mpeg-2 codec, but exporting to a mpeg stream will diminish the quality? I shoot videos in Full HD(1920X1080p) and dolby 5.1 but I feel kinda hosed not being able to reap the full benefits of HD.
For Mac users, they are no longer worried that Sony Handycam AVCHD Video cannot be compatible on Mac with a best Sony Handycam AVCHD Converter for Mac, which can convert M2TS, MTS, etc videos to most popular formats, such as MOV, MP4, AVI, 3GP, FLV, MPEG-4, MP3, etc. And then you can import converted AVCHD MTS or M2TS files to Mac applications, like iMovie, FCP, FCE, iDVD and more for editing as you like. Creative Labs Vado HD 720p Pocket Video camera review

Catch the perfect snowboarding stunt, your baby's first steps or your kid's graduation, share it online and save it for a lifetime with Creative's Vado HD Pocket Video Cam. The thin, lightweight Vado HD is small enough to fit easily in a pocket, purse or the palm of your hand, and it captures video in 720P high-definition quality with just the touch of a button. Sharing videos online is simple with built-in software that helps you post videos to YouTube, Photobucket or Box.net. The Vado HD is the only pocket video cam to feature true HDMI connectivity and an included HDMI cable for a superior viewing experience on an HDTV. Take the Vado HD Pocket Video Cam with you everywhere you go and never miss a moment. Product specs include 720p high-definition video, wide-angle glass lens, 2x digital zoom, 8GB of video storage capacity, up to two hours of recording and playback per charge, up to eight hours of recording time at 640x480 at 30 frames per second, HDMI and RCA connections for TV, HDMI cable included, A/V cable sold separately, removable and rechargeable lithium battery, Vado Central software for simple video editing and sharing. System requirements include Windows Xp Service Pack 2 or Vista, Intel Pentium III or higher, 512MB of memory, USB port, 500MB free hard disk space, and 16MB of Video Memory or above. Product ships with silicon skin, HDMI cable, and USB cable.
The new Vado HD is very similar to the original Vado. They both share some common features, which include a 2-inch antiglare LCD screen that serves as both the playback screen and a viewfinder. Creative Labs has made some changes to the new model. The lens is not built-in to the body, but rather it extends out. It is slightly thicker and, at 3.5 ounces, it weighs a little more than the original at 3.3 ounces. The placement of the microphone has also been shifted; it now resides on the other side of the lens. It is a wide-angle glass lens that helps you capture wide scene videos, which are much sharper and crisper than the original. It sports a 2X digital zoom, which works well in low light conditions.
The good: Solid 720p video; ultraslim design; removable, rechargeable battery; easy to use; one-touch video uploading to YouTube and Photobucket; includes mini HDMI connector and bundled cable for outputting 1080i video to an HDTV.
The bad: No flash-memory slot; Mac users have to manually copy video files to their computers; white balance is slightly off and colors are a bit amped.
The bottom line: The Creative Vado HD may fall slightly short of the Flip Video Mino HD in terms of video quality, but it's stronger feature set may tempt you.

Final Cut Express: A video editor softare

Final Cut Express is a discontinued video editing software created by Apple Inc. It is the consumer version of Final Cut Pro and is designed for advanced editing of digital video as well as high-definition video, which is used by many amateur and professional videographers. Final Cut Express is considered a step above iMovie in terms of capabilities, but a step underneath Final Cut Pro and its suite of applications. As of June 21, 2011, Final Cut Express is discontinued, in favor of Final Cut Pro X.
Final Cut Express' interface is identical to that of Final Cut Pro, but lacks some film-specific features, including Cinema Tools, multi-cam editing, batch capture, and a time code view. The program can perform 32 undo operations, while Final Cut Pro can do 99.
Features the program does include are:
The ability to keyframe filters
Dynamic RT, which changes real-time settings on-the-fly
Motion path keyframing
Opacity keyframing
Ripple, roll, slip, slide and blade edits
Picture-in-picture and split-screen effects
Up to 99 video tracks and 12 compositing modes
Up to 99 audio tracks
Motion project import
Two-way color correction.
Chroma key
FCE isn't built from the ground up for anything. It's stripped back from full-blown FCP. It's a leaner program with less options and less features. Honestly, the only reason I think it exists is to get students and newbies hooked on Final Cut until they can afford to make the plunge and buy the full suite. I'm guessing Apple created FCE as a way of getting high-schoolers and college kids into the FCP family. FCE is only $150 or so at education rates and runs on the cheaper machines. That's a pretty affordable entry price if film or videography is something of which you want to make a career.
Why hasn't FCE been updated in years? If you look at the FCP upgrades, they've mostly been with regard to professional application. It's these very items that are stripped from FCE, intentionally crippling it to make it a weaker program. Since the current version of FCE does pretty much what a bare bones FCP would do (even the UI hasn't changed much), there's little reason for Apple to spend a lot of development time trying to spiffy it up.

A brief overview of Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX100V

A replacement for 2009's HX1V model, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX100V is based around a high-speed 1/2.3"-type, 16.2 effective megapixel, backside-illuminated, EXMOR R CMOS image sensor. In place of the Sony G-branded 20x lens from the HX1V, the Sony HX100V has a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* branded 30x optical zoom. As well as offering a brighter, slightly more generous wide angle, the HX100V's lens offers a lot more telephoto reach, although even with the included Optical SteadyShot stabilization with Active mode, you'll likely need good lighting for blur-free photos at the telephoto end of the range.
Arguably the most remarkable part of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX100V is the lens. As mentioned earlier, this is a 30x zoom that spans focal lengths ranging from 27mm to 810mm. While there are a couple of competitors sporting an even more impressive range, this is still nothing to sneeze at. The zoom is of course stepped, but feels surprisingly smooth in action. It is quite fast too, especially considering the huge focal range that it spans. This is greatly helped by the fly-by-wire manual control ring on the lens barrel, which can be easily assigned to adjust either focus or zoom via a switch on the side. The former is great for macro photography, where the focus can be precisely adjusted while viewing a magnified portion of the image, but we preferred to use it to more accurately zoom through the focal range.
Image Storage
Usable Memory Types:S Duo / MS PRO Duo / SD / SDHC / SDXC
Movie File Format:AVCHD 60i / 60p / MP4 / MPEG-4 AVC(H.264)
The good: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX100V is overflowing with shooting features, has excellent photo and video quality, and solid shooting performance for its class.
The bad: The HX100V might actually be too much camera for some users and it has a couple minor design issues.
The bottom line: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX100V has a lot of features and a lot of lens with photo and video quality that's just good enough to back up its hefty price tag.

Take a look at Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX9 digital camera

The 16.2-megapixel Sony Cyber-shot WX9 is a dressed up point-and-shoot digital camera. It joins HD video capture, Panorama stitching, and a DSLR-like background blur mode with a thin, attractive frame. Sony has done an effective, if not creative, job of integrating memorable snapshot features throughout the stylish design. The pocketable WX9, however, faces stiff competition in the $200-$220 price range.
The DSC-WX9 has a full arsenal of cutting-edge features that let your creativity run free: a high resolution iSweep Panorama mode for automatically putting together an impressive, ultra wide-angle panorama photo (without using a tripod); backlight correction HDR for turning high contrast problem shots into beautiful images; Background Defocus to give your portraits that subject-in-sharp-focus, background-way-out-of-focus professional look; 3D and 3D Panorama; and Smile Shutter (snaps a picture when it detects a smile), Anti-blink (doesn't take a picture when eyes blinking are detected), and Soft Skin (reduces blemishes and wrinkles) for flattering pictures of friends and family.
Sony keeps shooting options geared toward snapshooters on the WX9, but it's so loaded with automatic modes that it could get very confusing. For those who like to leave it in auto there are three options: Easy, Intelligent Auto, and Superior Auto. Easy mode takes away all options except for image size (large or small) and enlarges onscreen text. Intelligent Auto picks from 10 scene types and turns on face detection, dynamic range optimization, and image stabilization. Superior Auto takes Intelligent Auto and adds three multishot modes--Handheld Twilight, Anti Motion Blur, and Backlight Correction HDR--to shoot photos with the best possible settings.
Review Summary: A small and attractive digital camera with a decent price, a 16-megapixel backlit sensor, and an impressive set of features, the Sony WX9 nonetheless falls down in the imaging department, due to excessive noise suppression and a poor quality lens.
Pros: 25-125mm zoom range; iSweep Panorama; 3D capture modes; Full HD movie modes; Fast autofocus.
Cons: Slow operation in certain modes; Poor print quality; Soft corners; Lens is blurry all across the bottom of the frame.
