Solution to convert Sony cyber-shot video to mac lion iphoto

Here we only refer to Sony Cyber-Shot series recording AVCHD/MP4 format, AVI MPEG Motion(Cyber-shot DSC-W530) isn't in the issue. You can easily find your Cyber-Shot mode and know clearly what format it recording and whether it support AVCHD and MP4 both. Supposed you have an iMac version 10.6.8 & you're trying to transfer HD videos to iPhoto but it doesn't even recognize that there are any. You've searched around but can't find any solid answers. From the above you know your Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX9V shot video in the .mts format which is not supported/recognized by iPhoto/iMovie/QuickTime.
